...the month of...

An interesting Story!

Once upon a few decades ago,

there was a Lady Pin named "Gypsy"!

She was a World Traveler!

She went Everywhere with her two Human friends!

in fact,

the Dollmaker recently received a fond photographic documentary

from those friends

starring Gypsy gallivanting about

 Italy...

Gypsy next to a bottle of fine wine.

Gypsy next to a Cathedral, Gypsy at the Gate to a Lush Courtyard...

At the Head of the Table having an amazing meal- waiters hovering...

 you get the picture...

Gypsy was - well- Family!

Ah, but alas,

somewhere along the way, somehow,

 Gypsy vanished..

She just struck out on her own!!

Her Traveling Companions were devastated.

The Unimaginable had happened!

So... For a time, gloom prevailed.

And then, dearly wishing to alleviate his wife's Depression,

the concerned husband came up with a Brilliant Idea!

He would contact the Dollmaker and see if she would agree to make

of Gypsy.

And so it came to pass...

The Dollmaker had so much fun with this!

She didn't name them of course,

but The first one, she knew was the Eldest of the Six..

There are two alike- so she called them The Twins...

The next one was The Intellectual- don't try to get one over on Her!

Then there was a Blonde, who could belt out the Blues,

And- ta-da! the last one IS GOING TO BE a Movie Star...

So...

The Husband presented them all together...

of Gypsy..

and the Wife wept with Joy, Surprise and Delight!

......

They will be going to Mexico soon-

The big question NOW is-

Which of the Sisters will be going with them?

(the Dollmaker thinks they ALL should go!)

Strange and Interesting fact...

The Dollmaker's Mom, like Gypsy,

also happened to be the Eldest of Seven Sisters.

SO... while she was at it, in

the Dollmaker just continued making more and more Lady Pins!

in two sizes..

The Story

of this character begins...

In the ancient land of Varrowyn..

where there was whispered a prophesy

of a prince born beneath a blood-red moon...

His name was Xadrain and within his veins

flowed the curse of the wolf and the gift of flame.

Both predator and pyromancer, a prince who could burn an army

or tear it apart with claw and fang...

Rejected by both Wolves and Humans-

an Outcast Prince who uses his Unusual Gifts

in a Battle to rescue his City from a Horrific Enemy!

The Creator of this Story and this Character is:

 Samantha Burgess.

( also a long-standing Wee Peeple Doll Collector)

The Author and Illustrator, Samantha,

wanted Xadrain, her Character,

-always essentially rendered as an Illustration-

to be fashioned into

a three dimensional figure-

a Wee Peeple Doll Construction.

Enter: The Dollmaker

who took one look at those detailed Illustrations

and was certain

that she could not do justice to this character.

Her very words were:

Nope. No way. Definitely not.

Samantha, however,

a person of great Faith and Perseverance,

and a long-time Collector of Wee Peeple Dolls..

Assured the Dollmaker that she Could!

Not a Portrait, but a "Resemblance"!

Samantha then supportively cast a spell in the telling of

 this character's Back Story..

..an engaging Story which captivated the Dollmaker and

familiarized her with the character:

 So, finally the Dollmaker relented..

she said she would give it a try..

Fossil Hunting on Shannon's Birthday!

A Great Visit! The Dollmaker also got to see

Shannon and Chad's beautiful New Home

(and new fence and retaining wall!)

for the first time!

Congratulations to the Intrepid Homeowners!!

AND!

Maybe even more interesting than that!

was their little "Computer Den"

Where Shannon and Chad

retreat to create

their own Stories and Characters.

In her own words:

I create digital artwork using Krita on an XP-Pen 15.6 Pro tablet.

I’ve been using Krita for about four years,

after a D&D campaign inspired me

to start drawing again in earnest..

Another player was illustrating our characters,

and with some enthusiastic encouragement from the entire group,

I took the leap into digital art.

I’ve loved working in Krita since day one.

My process usually begins

with a loose concept sketch,

which I refine and ink before moving on to color.

I build pieces in layers, starting with flat colors,

then adding shading and finishing details

like glowing auras, lighting effects, and atmospheric touches.

Krita’s layer system and blending brushes

make it easy to experiment

without fear of ruining a piece.

One of my favorite things about Krita is

how intuitive it feels to get started,

while still offering a lot of depth

once you want to explore more advanced tools.

The community resources are fantastic,

and being free is a huge bonus.

It allows me to try new styles and concepts

purely for the enjoyment of creating,

whether that’s character art for our D&D party

or Bob Ross inspired landscapes.

A request for  Pumpkins..

The pumpkin sketch shown here

was a quick study

she used to demonstrate

layers, blending brushes, and color variation,

showing how flexible Krita can be

 even in a simple piece.

And No Mess! No accidental smearing..

So that's how she does it!

What a great Art Form!!

To observe how Shannon uses the

Krita Art Program

to achieve such Amazing Results,

the Dollmaker said..

Ok, create something- right now- how about-

15 Smiling Pumpkins?

On one screen she pulled up

lots of pictures of Pumpkins for Reference

and proceeded to draw the Requested Grouping.

The colors were vibrant!

Her hand was sure on the Tools.

The Dollmaker was thrilled to watch her

 fill in each detail,

demonstrating how to use a wide variety of Tools

and putting her own spin on the Idea..

(note the renegade pumpkins in there refusing to smile!)

The Dollmaker always learns something when she visits her daughter!

Every single time.
